Noodles.
Welcome to my blog!
My name is Katy Schleusner and I’m a wife, mom, sister, daughter, teacher, and enthusiast of lifelong learning.
Though I’m a 25-year veteran of public school music teaching/band directing, my interests span a wide variety of topics and activities. I was nudged by friends to start a blog based on high traffic on my social media posts, my love of casual writing, and my interest in expanding horizons in all areas of life. I’m excited to share webspace with those interested in hearing stories and insights as I continue to grow!
Why “The Inquisitive Noodle”? The obvious reference is being curious and using my brain (noodle) to learn new things. The secondary reference requires a bit of background…
In 2020, 10 months after losing our heart dog, Roscoe, my husband Chris and I adopted a 10-year-old Pitbull named Desi. She had clearly been a mother to many puppies in her former life. She couldn’t be more sweet and lovable (I’ll always advocate against the myth that is the “vicious pitbull”) and at night she snuggles up to us in our bed and tries to lick our “paws” to “clean us up for the night” as mama dogs would do to their puppies. One time, shortly after her adoption, I pulled my hand away, not wanting to be licked. My husband voices our dogs, and out came “Desi’s” new nickname for me: “NOODLES! Come back here and let me clean your paws!” …stated in a mama-dog voice that would be wrangling a puppy that was trying to get away. We laughed so hard at something that seemed to fit so well. I’ve been “Noodles” to Desi (aka Chris) ever since, and thus the double meaning of “The Inquisitive Noodle”, also coined by my husband, seemed meant to be.
